Recorders Galore is a playing day organised twice a year by members of Shrewsbury Consort. Over the past years, it has been held in various locations within Shropshire and we have had the pleasure of welcoming a variety of different guest conductors. The event is open of all comers although is not suitable for complete beginners.
Spring: 23rd March -Grace Barton
Grace studied recorder at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague with Reine-Marie Verhagen and Historical Performance Practice with Peter van Heyghen. She is a member of the trio Polyphonica who have performed from time to time at the St Chad’s Friday Lunchtime Concerts. For some years, Polyphonica were also tutors at the original Cheltenham Recorder Festival. In addition, Grace performs with Birmingham Baroque and La Sprezzatura. She has been Director of the Wirral Recorder Orchestra since 2005 and also tutors for the NW Early Music Forum and other groups. This will be her second visit to Recorders Galore
